Formed in 1978 by Chris and Paul McMahon, Haze were one of the founders of the neo-progressive revival of the early 1980s.

The band went through a number of line-up changes until drummer Paul Chisnell joined in 1983, completing the classic line-up which was to remain unaltered until the
bandbroke up in 1988.
On 31st May 1998 Haze reunited for a 20th anniversary concert in Sheffield. The show was a great success and was recorded for a limited edition double live CD on Cyclops Records. Since then the band have become a regular fixture at the annual Whitchurch Music Festival, and have toured Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.
The band played two 30th anniversary shows, in Sheffield & London, in 2008 and released a double live CD of the shows on Cyclops Records. Cyclops also reissued "Stoat & Bottle" on CD, the last of the three 80s Haze albums to be reissued. Haze toured Italy again in 2010 and have released a live DVD of the tour "in that branch of the lake".
On 10th April 2011 the band will be playing a concert to celebrate bass/keyboards player Chris McMahon's 50th birthday, the concert will also feature performances as the bands' alter egos, folk rock group Treebeard and rock ceilidh band The Outlandish Knights. The show will be recorded for CD & DVD release.
The band's lineup has now been augmented by the addition of flute palyer Ceri Ashton.
Haze are also planning to return to the studio in 2011 to produce their first studio album for 24 years!
