Liquorice are an acoustic duet from the North-East of England, with Ally Foster on clarinet, saxophone and vocals, and Craig Johnson on guitar and vocals.

They have played together since they were 14, playing in local pubs and open mic nights, the most regular being the Earl Grey Whistle Test. When they reached the age where University came calling, it became apparent that Liquorice would not be playing together for much longer. Craig was off to Newcastle and Ally off to Aberystwyth. Both felt that it would be a shame to have played for so long to not have a record of the music they'd played.

"Unplugged" was recorded in the Summer of 2009 at the Garden Tap, in County Durham. The album consists of 12 songs, two of which are Liquorice's own. Other songs on the album are simply favourites of the players involved.

As youngsters, it's obviously natural that Liquorice are suitable for people our own age, but a lot of what they play is suitable for fans of older music, such as Bob Dylan, Lindisfarne, Animals and so on...
