Pilgrims' Way

details
Pilgrims' Way are a 'refreshingly different, reassuringly traditional' new three-piece folk band from Stockport, bringing together some of English folk's best new talents.
directory of local bands
Named after the Rudyard Kipling poem (set to music by the great Peter Bellamy) they offer a unique brand of 'no-frills' folk, reflecting their musical apprenticeship in the industrial North West - edgier than the folk on the village green but firmly rooted in the traditions of England and its cross-currents with Ireland and America. Fiddle player Tom Kitching has racked up dozens of festival appearances and two records on the Fellside label with guitarist Gren Bartley, as well as performing nationally in a variety of other line-ups. Box player, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Edwin Beasant is a long-term fixture in the session tent of most UK folk festivals, as well as being a veteran of the well-respected dance band "Jabadaw". Singer Lucy Wright is also an internationally acclaimed jews harp player, increasingly in demand as a session musician and was described by Maggie Boyle as 'a wonderful young singer, possessed of one of the finest & most agile voices I ever heard'.
