The Beatin' Hearts are a 2013 mutation of the The Darke Past , transformed when joined by Clive Tucker, to replace bass guitarist Brian Darke. The loss of eponymous bass guitarist meant that a name change was required, and after much soul searching The Beatin' Hearts was born. The Darke Past originally began in the summer of 2011, when ex-'Shytots' guitarist Mick Hammersley and former 'The Breeze' bassist Brian Darke met through the Join My Band website. Many musicians came and went, until they met up with drummer Mal Egre, who then introduced Mike Chandler, who was the lead guitarist in his former band Joy Rig , and finally, ex-'Liar' frontman Dave Burton came on board.
Dave has real Rock n Roll pedigree. Starting out at 13 singing in working mans clubs around his native Dudley, Dave was soon elevated to the big time when he joined ex Edison Lighthouse bassist Dave Taylor in forming the legendary Rock band Liar, who still enjoy a strong cult following today. Their first album Straight from the Hip was followed by a sell out UK tour with Slade and consequent tours of Europe and the US, where the band also spent time recording follow up albums. The band split over contractual disputes with the record companies, but Dave continued to perform with other bands, particularly with popular Blues/ Soul band Fake ID.Although Dave has played to huge audiences, he continues to convey as much enthusiasm for performing and his unique singing voice is as prominent as ever.
