All the guys are lead vocalists, offering a range and depth of material that few bands possess. They have been playing together for over twenty years for corporate entertainment, private parties, charity gigs and festivals throughout the UK and overseas from Hook Norton to Hong Kong!
Between them, the band have a wealth of experience, including Paul and Ben s stint with The Banned whose 1977 single Little Girl was a Top 40 hit, leading to an appearance on Top of the Pops alongside Paul McCartney s Wings, Bonnie Tyler and Hot Chocolate. Paul has been back on TV as a guest on BBC 2 s Never Mind The Buzzcocks .
In the Beginning The Retros started life in 1985 but have roots going back to Precious Little in 1975 and The Banned in 1977. Paul Aitken, the drummer/vocalist in both these bands, decided to start a new band from scratch inspired by the material he had known and loved in the 60 s and 70 s. He made a list of his favourite songs and set about finding some like-minded classy musicians. The band now has two albums and several singles on itunes - released through
Cherry Red Records. The band is versatile and can play acoustic intimate venues as well as festival stages.
The Retros enthusiasm is as fresh today as it was when they first picked up their instruments. Their passion and joy for the music is clear in both their live performance and in their recordings. Their last album Undercover is an inspired, nineteen-track, classic collection from The Lovin Spoonful s era-defining hit Summer In The City through The Kinks You Really Got Me to Fleetwood Mac s Black Magic Woman and Lennon/McCartney s Bad to Me .
Go-Go dancers have joined the band on stage in recent years, giving an exciting reminder of why the music of the 60s and early 70s provided so many people with so much pleasure!
